Accommodation and facilities at Banubanu are simple but comprehensive. They are in keeping with the need to maintain a minimal ecological footprint in one of Australia’s most pristine areas.
The retreat accommodates up to 10 people comfortably with two cabins and three tents, all twin share.
Cabins
Hideaway Cabin A fan cooled double bedroom in a lush tropical setting that has an en suite and its own private deck. Breakfast can be delivered to enjoy in peace and quiet on the deck
The Beach House is the latest addition to the Retreat. It also is for up to two people and has a double bed, fan and en suite.
Tented Accommodation
Each tent has two jumbo single camp beds, quality mattresses, bed linen and fans provided for the guests’ comfort. Fly sheets proof the tents against the tropical downpours that come and go from time to time, especially in the wet season, and do keep the guests and their effects snug and dry.
The Dining Area
A covered dining and seating area provides protection from the elements and is cooled by overhead fans. Much of the furniture, fittings and decor are skilfully fashioned from driftwood and items found by beachcombers. There is a well stocked mini-bar for the guests’ convenience.
Sunset Deck
The Retreat has a covered deck overlooking the Western bay, capitalizing on magnificent sea views and ocean breezes. It’s a wonderful spot to have breakfast or morning coffee, to relax during the day and of course to enjoy sunset drinks and nibbles before a delicious Banu dinner.
Amenities
The cabins each have an ‘en suite’ self composting toilet and cold showers. The tented accommodation has shared facilities of two cold showers and one main self composting toilet.
A wind generator and solar panels, backed up by a generator when necessary, charge the battery bank that powers lighting, refrigeration, and fans throughout the retreat.
