The Penitentiary Chapel was designed in the 1830's to serve the growing male population (50,000 convicts passed through). Sections were later converted into Supreme Courts which are linked by tunnels to cells, an execution yard and the gallows. Today this historic chapel site provides a fascinating insight into 175 years of crime and punishment.
