The property consists of 100 acres; 15 acres of vines and the remainder is grazed by sheep. Koalas often roam through the remnant manna gums of the Tarrington area and stop for awhile in the native vegetation habitats along the creek. A majestic lake used for irrigation offers a peaceful and beautiful area to picnic and watch the birdlife and picturesque surrounding countryside.
The cellar door has been placed in the end of one of the original farm sheds and was part of the Winery. It is open most days, 11am - 6pm & offers home made cakes, Mocopan Bruno Rossi espresso coffee, Tea Blossom & the local: Simply Teatime Teas and numerous local produce including a range of local wines. Pierrepoint Cellar Door has a north easterly aspect capturing the sunshine and overlooking the numerous breeds of poultry wandering amongst the vines.
To the south of the homestead, Mt Napier appears on the horizon beyond the Muddy Creek valley and productive farming land.
The Tarrington area is a picturesque, undulating landscape. The township named as Hochkirk by its German founders in 1853, changed its name to Tarrington in 1916 due to world events at the time. It has maintained a strong and proud German heritage. The town boasts one of the best cafes/restaurants in the district Cafe Catalpa, is family owned and operated and is only 4km from "Pierrepoint".
