In Effect From:
May 12th, 2:00 pm
In Effect Till:
May 13th, 3:00 am
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Potential for travel disruption due to heavy showers, thunderstorms, and isolated property flooding.

Expect heavy showers, potentially accompanied by thunder, to develop over parts of western Scotland on Sunday afternoon. Later in the evening, more heavy rain is expected to move in from the south, with a chance of thunderstorms particularly in the southern regions. Some areas may experience intense downpours, resulting in 20 to 30 mm of rain in under an hour and possibly 30-50 mm over 2 to 3 hours, leading to surface water flooding.

To prepare for potential flash flooding, assess if your area is at risk and consider creating a flood plan and assembling an emergency flood kit. Check road conditions, bus and train schedules, and modify your travel plans if needed to avoid delays.

Individuals are better equipped to handle power outages if they have prepared in advance. Stock up on torches, batteries, a mobile phone charger, and other essential supplies.

If you are outdoors and hear thunder, seek shelter in a safe, enclosed area like a car. Avoid seeking shelter near trees or structures that could be struck by lightning, and move to lower ground if you are on an elevated area.

Stay alert for rapid changes in weather warnings, and stay informed about the weather forecast in your region when a warning is issued by the Met Office.
