In Effect From:
May 12th, 1:00 pm
In Effect Till:
May 12th, 11:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Potential travel disruption and isolated flooding possible due to heavy showers and thunderstorms.

There is a high likelihood of heavy showers and thunderstorms in the south and west of the area early Sunday afternoon, gradually moving north and expanding into larger areas of heavy rain before clearing by late evening. Some areas may experience intense downpours, with up to 30 mm of rain in less than an hour and possibly 50 mm over 2 to 3 hours, potentially leading to surface water flooding. In addition, there may be large hail, frequent lightning strikes, and strong wind gusts in localized areas.

To prepare for the weather, consider assessing if your location is prone to flash flooding and create a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. Secure moveable objects such as bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, gazebos, sheds, and fences before gusty winds arrive to prevent damage. Stay informed about road conditions and public transportation schedules to avoid delays. Be ready for power cuts by gathering essential items like torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities.

If you are outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed area like a car and avoid trees or structures that could be struck by lightning. Move to lower ground if you are in an elevated area. Keep updated on weather warnings as they may change quickly. The Met Office advises staying informed about the weather forecast in your area when a weather warning is issued.
