In Effect Till:

Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Possible disruption to travel and property flooding from heavy showers and thunderstorms.

There is a likelihood of heavy showers, potentially thundery, in western Scotland during Sunday afternoon. Following this, heavy rain is expected to move in from the south during Sunday evening, with a chance of thunder especially in the south. There is a possibility of intense downpours in some areas, which could result in 20 to 30 mm of rainfall in less than an hour and possibly 30-50 mm over 2 to 3 hours, leading to surface water flooding.

To prepare for any potential flash flooding, it is advisable to assess if your location is at risk and consider creating a flood plan and an emergency flood kit. Stay updated on road conditions, bus and train timetables, and amend travel plans accordingly to avoid delays.

In the event of power cuts, it is recommended to gather essential items such as torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities to cope better with the situation. If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed space like a car. Avoid taking cover under or near trees or structures that could be struck by lightning, and if on higher ground, move to lower ground.

Weather warnings may change rapidly, so it is important to stay informed by regularly checking the weather forecast in your area when a warning is issued.
