Warning No Longer In Effect

Potential flooding and travel disruptions as heavy rain forecasted.

An area of heavy rain is forecast to affect much of England and Wales today, gradually moving eastwards throughout the day. The rainfall is expected to intensify over parts of northern England and North Wales, especially on north facing hills, before easing off on Thursday morning. Rainfall amounts are likely to range from 30-40 mm in many areas, with a few locations potentially receiving 60-80 mm. Some upland areas, particularly in the separate Amber warning zone, could see much higher totals of 100-150 mm.

To prepare for the inclement weather, it is advisable to assess the risk of flooding to your property and create a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. Additionally, stay informed about road conditions, bus and train schedules, and make adjustments to your travel plans as needed to avoid delays. It is also recommended to gather essential items such as torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities in case of power outages. Stay vigilant for rapid changes in weather warnings, as the Met Office advises keeping abreast of the local forecast updates.
