Met Office Issues Yellow warning for East of England

In Effect From:
May 26th, 12:00 pm
In Effect Till:
May 26th, 8:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Heavy showers and thunderstorms moving slowly may lead to flooding and disruptions in certain areas

Expect slow-moving showers and thunderstorms to develop Sunday afternoon, with rainfall accumulations varying significantly in the warning area. Organized showers could result in 20-30 mm of rain falling in an hour or less, along with frequent lightning and hail, particularly in the east.

To prepare for potential flash flooding, assess if your location is at risk and consider creating a flood plan and emergency flood kit. Secure moveable objects and temporary structures before gusty winds arrive, including bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, gazebos, sheds, and fences.

Check road conditions and transport timetables to avoid delays, and gather essential items like torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack to cope with power cuts. Seek shelter in a safe, enclosed area if outside during thunderstorms and avoid trees or structures that may attract lightning strikes.

Stay informed and prepared for rapidly changing weather warnings by staying up to date with the forecast from the Met Office.
