In Effect Till:
May 29th, 9:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

More heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted for Wednesday, potential for travel disruption and flooding.

Early showers on Wednesday are expected to intensify and become more widespread later in the morning and into the afternoon. Some of these showers and storms may linger and bring heavy rainfall, with the potential for 15-20 mm of rain in less than an hour and up to 30-40 mm in a 2-3 hour period. Certain areas may even see more than 40 mm of rain during the entire warning period. In addition to heavy rain, lightning and hail are also expected hazards.

To prepare for potential flash flooding, assess the risk to your location and consider creating a flood plan and emergency flood kit. Take precautions to secure your property and belongings before the arrival of gusty winds, ensuring that moveable objects and temporary structures are well anchored. Stay informed about road conditions and public transport schedules to avoid travel delays.

In the event of power outages, having essential items such as torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessary supplies prepared in advance can help you cope better. If you are outdoors and hear thunder, seek shelter in a safe enclosed area like a car and avoid standing near trees or structures that may attract lightning strikes. Stay alert for rapid changes in weather alerts, and follow the Met Office's recommendations for staying updated on the weather forecast in your area.
