Met Office Issues Yellow warning for Strathclyde

In Effect From:
June 15th, 11:00 am
In Effect Till:
June 15th, 10:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Slow thunderstorms and heavy showers may result in travel and outdoor activity disruptions.

Expect showers and thunderstorms to intensify later this afternoon and continue into the evening. While not all areas will experience thunderstorms, those that do may encounter slow-moving storms with lightning, hail, and heavy rain. The most severe storms could result in up to 20 mm of rain in under an hour, with localized amounts of 30-40 mm over 2-3 hours.

To ensure safety during potential flash flooding, assess if your area is at risk and create a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. Stay informed of road conditions, public transportation schedules, and consider adjusting travel arrangements accordingly.

Prepare for power outages by gathering necessary supplies such as torches, batteries, mobile phone power packs, and other essentials. If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a secure, enclosed location like a car, and avoid standing near trees or structures vulnerable to lightning strikes. Monitor changing weather warnings closely and stay updated on local forecasts advised by the Met Office.
