Rain to intensify and become prolonged this evening, causing disruptions to travel and infrastructure.

Following a day of cloudy skies and showers, heavier rain is expected to move northwards during the evening and overnight. The rain will be continuous and intense at times, especially in hilly, moorland, and coastal areas exposed to strong winds.

Around 20-40 mm of rain is forecasted for most of the warned areas, but some areas like Dartmoor and Exmoor could see up to 60-70 mm. The rain is expected to gradually ease from the south overnight, leading to scattered showers by morning.

  • Bus and train services may be impacted, causing longer journey times
  • Spray and flooding on roads could lead to longer travel times
  • Expect some disruption to power supplies and other services
