Heavy rain expected to persist this evening, causing travel and infrastructure disruptions

Following a mostly cloudy day with showers, heavier rain will move northward later this evening and overnight. The rain will be consistent and intense at times, especially in hilly areas, moors, and headlands experiencing strong winds. In most areas under the warning, 20-40 mm of rain is expected, with certain areas potentially getting up to 60-70 mm, like Dartmoor and Exmoor. The rain is forecasted to diminish from the south as the night progresses, eventually clearing to scattered showers by morning.
