Expect showers and thunderstorms to become more widespread this afternoon and continue into the evening. While not every area will experience a thunderstorm, those that do may encounter slow-moving storms with lightning, hail, and heavy rainfall. The most intense storms could bring up to 20 mm of rain in less than an hour, with some areas receiving 30-40 mm in 2-3 hours.
To prepare for potential flash flooding, assess your risk level and create a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. If you are traveling, keep an eye on road conditions, bus and train schedules, and be prepared to adjust your plans accordingly.
In case of a power cut, gather essential items such as torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities in advance. If you are outdoors and hear thunder, seek shelter in a safe, enclosed space like a car. Avoid taking cover under trees or any structures that could be struck by lightning. If you are in a high area, move to lower ground.
