In Effect From:
May 12th, 2:00 pm
In Effect Till:
May 13th, 3:00 am
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Potential disruption in travel and property flooding likely due to heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Expect heavy showers, possibly accompanied by thunder, in western Scotland on Sunday afternoon. More heavy rain, with a chance of thunder especially in the south, is expected during Sunday evening. Some areas may experience intense downpours, leading to potential surface water flooding, with 20 to 30 mm in less than an hour and possibly 30-50 mm over 2 to 3 hours. Consider the risk of flash flooding in your area and prepare a flood plan and emergency flood kit if necessary. Check road conditions, bus and train schedules, and adjust your travel plans accordingly to avoid delays. Be ready for power outages by gathering essentials like torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack. Take precautions during a thunderstorm by finding a safe shelter, such as a car, and avoid trees or tall structures. Stay informed about changing weather conditions, and keep up to date with weather forecasts in your region when a weather warning is issued by the Met Office.
