Possible Travel Disruption and Property Flooding Expected from Heavy Showers and Thunderstorms

Expect heavy showers, with a chance of thunder, in western Scotland on Sunday afternoon. More heavy rain, possibly with thunder in the south, is expected to move in from the south later in the evening. Some areas may see intense downpours, leading to potential surface water flooding with 20 to 30 mm of rain in less than an hour and up to 30-50 mm over 2 to 3 hours.

To prepare for possible flooding, assess if your area is at risk and create a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. Stay informed about road conditions and public transportation schedules to avoid delays. Be ready for power outages by gathering essentials like torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessary items.

If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed space, like a car, and avoid trees or structures that could attract lightning. Keep informed about changing weather warnings, and follow the Met Office's advice to stay updated on the weather forecast for your area.

What To EXPECT
