In Effect Till:

Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Intense showers and thunderstorms could lead to heavy rainfall, impacting travel and possibly causing flooding in some areas.

This afternoon, heavy showers and thunderstorms will move eastwards before gradually tapering off later in the evening. In areas where storms are more frequent, up to 20 to 30 mm of rain could accumulate over a period of 2 to 3 hours. Lightning, hail, and strong winds are also possible hazards in certain locations.

To prepare for potential flash flooding, assess whether your location is at risk and create a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. Secure moveable objects and structures, such as bins, garden furniture, and tents, before gusty winds arrive. Check road conditions and public transport schedules to avoid delays in your travel plans.

In case of power cuts, gather essential items like torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack. If you are outdoors and hear thunder, seek shelter in a safe enclosed area, like a car. Avoid taking cover under trees or other structures that could be struck by lightning. Stay informed about changing weather warnings by regularly checking the forecast from the Met Office.
