Warning No Longer In Effect

Potential disruption in some areas due to heavy showers and thunderstorms

There is a likelihood of heavy showers and thunderstorms organizing into a band stretching from southwest England to the south Midlands and parts of the Home Counties late Sunday morning through the afternoon. Some areas may see 15-25 mm of rain in 1-2 hours from multiple showers, with a potential for 30-40 mm in isolated locations.

To prepare, assess whether your area is at risk of flash flooding and create a flood plan and emergency kit if necessary. Stay informed and check road, bus, and train conditions before traveling to avoid delays. Have essential items on hand in case of power outages, such as torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack.

If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek safe shelter, such as a car, and avoid trees or tall structures that may attract lightning strikes. Be ready for weather alerts to change suddenly and follow the updated forecasts from the Met Office.

What To EXPECT

  • Driving conditions may be affected by spray and standing water, potentially resulting in longer travel times by car and bus
  • Possible delays to train services
