In Effect From:

In Effect Till:
May 28th, 11:59 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Potential heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to torrential downpours, sparking travel disruption and localized flooding.

This afternoon heavy showers and thunderstorms will move eastwards before gradually dissipating by later this evening. In areas where storms are particularly intense, there is a risk of accumulating 20 to 30 mm of rain over the course of 2 to 3 hours. Additional hazards such as frequent lightning, hail, and gusty winds may also be present in some locations.

To prepare for potential flash flooding, assess if your area is at risk and consider creating a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. Safeguard your property and individuals from harm by securing moveable objects and temporary structures before the arrival of strong winds. This includes items such as bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, gazebos, sheds, and fences.

Minimize potential travel disruptions by checking road conditions or public transport schedules, adjusting your plans accordingly. Be proactive in planning for power outages by gathering necessary supplies like torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other essentials.

If caught outdoors during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed space, avoiding trees or tall structures that may attract lightning strikes. Stay informed of changing weather conditions by keeping up to date with weather forecasts and any updated warnings from the Met Office.
