In Effect Till:
May 29th, 9:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Wednesday brings another round of heavy showers and thunderstorms, putting travel at risk and raising concerns for possible flooding.

Showers on Wednesday will start off light but are expected to intensify and become more widespread later in the morning and into the afternoon. Some areas may experience slow-moving and prolonged showers and storms, bringing 15-20 mm of rain in less than an hour and potentially 30-40 mm in 2-3 hours, with isolated spots possibly receiving even more. Lightning and hail are also possible hazards.

To prepare for potential flash flooding, consider creating a flood plan and assembling an emergency flood kit. Take precautions to secure moveable objects and temporary structures, such as bins, garden furniture, trampolines, and sheds, before gusty winds arrive.

Stay informed about road conditions and public transport schedules to avoid delays. Prepare for power outages by gathering essential items like torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack. If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe, enclosed area such as a car, and avoid standing near trees or other structures that may attract lightning strikes. Stay updated on changing weather warnings from the Met Office.
