Met Office Issues Yellow warning for Strathclyde

In Effect From:
May 26th, 1:00 pm
In Effect Till:
May 26th, 11:59 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Sunday afternoon and evening may bring heavy showers, thunderstorms, leading to potential flooding and transport disruptions.

Slow-moving showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop during Sunday afternoon and evening, with rainfall accumulations varying significantly across the warning area. In areas where showers become organised, there is a possibility of 20 mm of rain falling in an hour, increasing the risk of flooding following recent wet weather.

To ensure safety, consider if your location is at risk of flash flooding and prepare a flood plan and an emergency flood kit. Check road conditions, bus and train timetables, and adjust travel plans if necessary to avoid delays. Prepare for potential power cuts by gathering essential items such as torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities.

If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed area, such as a car, and avoid trees or structures that may attract lightning strikes. Move to lower ground if on an elevated area.

Stay alert to changing weather warnings, as the Met Office advises keeping up to date with the forecast in your area.
