In Effect From:

In Effect Till:
May 29th, 7:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Wednesday to bring heavy showers and thunderstorms, potential for travel disruption and flooding.

Early showers on Wednesday will intensify and become more widespread later in the morning and into the afternoon. Some showers and storms may linger, delivering heavy rain at a rate of 15-20 mm in less than an hour and potentially 30-40 mm over a few hours. Lightning and hail are also possible hazards.

To prepare for potential flash flooding, assess the risk in your area and consider creating a flood plan and emergency kit. Secure moveable items like bins, furniture, and outdoor structures before strong winds arrive. Stay informed about road conditions and public transportation schedules to avoid delays.

In the event of a power cut, gather essential supplies like torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack. If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed space, such as a car, and avoid trees or tall structures that may attract lightning strikes. Stay alert for changing weather warnings and remain updated on the forecast from the Met Office.

What To EXPECT

  • There is a slight possibility of homes and businesses being flooded rapidly, resulting in damage to some structures from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail, or strong winds
  • There is a slight chance of swiftly flowing or deep floodwaters posing a risk to life
  • If flooding or lightning strikes happen, there is a possibility of disruptions and potential cancellations to train and bus services
  • Spray and abrupt flooding may create challenging driving conditions and lead to certain road closures
  • There is a small likelihood of power outages occurring and potentially causing disruptions to services for some homes and businesses
