Persistent heavy rain tonight causing travel and infrastructure disruptions

Following a day dominated by clouds and intermittent showers, heavier and more consistent rain is expected to move northward tonight and into the early morning hours. The rain will be especially heavy at times, particularly in elevated areas exposed to strong winds such as hills, moors, and headlands. Most parts of the warned area can expect to receive 20-40 mm of rain, with isolated areas potentially seeing as much as 60-70 mm, like Dartmoor and Exmoor. The rainfall is anticipated to taper off from the south overnight, eventually leading to scattered showers by morning.
