In Effect From:
May 12th, 12:00 pm
In Effect Till:
May 12th, 10:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Heavy rain and thunderstorms may cause disruptions, particularly with travel. Some areas could experience isolated flooding.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop in the southern part of the area on late Sunday morning and early afternoon, moving northward and expanding into larger areas of rain before moving out of the region. There is a possibility of intense downpours in certain areas, with potential rainfall of up to 30 mm in less than an hour and possibly 40-50 mm over 2 to 3 hours, leading to surface water flooding. Hail, frequent lightning strikes, and strong wind gusts are additional hazards that could occur in localized areas.

To prepare for these potential hazards, consider the risk of flash flooding in your area and make a flood plan and emergency flood kit if necessary. Secure moveable objects and temporary structures, such as bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, gazebos, sheds, and fences, before the arrival of gusty winds. Check road conditions if driving and adjust travel plans accordingly to avoid delays.

In the event of power cuts, ensure you have essential items on hand such as torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities. If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed area, like a car, and avoid standing near trees or structures that may attract lightning strikes. Stay informed about changing weather warnings by staying updated with the latest weather forecasts in your area from the Met Office.
