Potential Heavy Rain Could Lead to Flooding and Travel Disruption.

An area of rain is forecast to develop over eastern and central England, before moving northwestwards to impact northern England and north Wales on Wednesday afternoon. The rain could then become slow-moving, heavy, and persistent, particularly over north-facing hills, before clearing on Thursday morning. There is a high level of uncertainty regarding where the heaviest rainfall will occur, with 30-40 mm expected in many areas and 60-80 mm possible in a few spots. There is also a slight chance of upland areas experiencing higher totals of 100-150 mm.

To stay safe, check if your property is at risk of flooding and consider preparing a flood plan and emergency flood kit. Stay informed about road conditions, bus and train timetables, and amend travel plans if necessary. Be ready for power cuts by having torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other essentials on hand. Be prepared for weather warnings to change rapidly; stay up to date with the local weather forecast.

  • There is a risk of fast flowing or deep floodwater, posing a danger to life
