In Effect From:
May 22nd, 12:15 am
In Effect Till:
May 23rd, 12:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Potential flooding and travel disruptions expected due to heavy rain.

A large area of heavy rain is expected to impact much of England and Wales today, gradually moving away from eastern England as the day progresses. The rainfall is forecasted to be intense and continuous in parts of northern England and North Wales, primarily on north facing hills, before easing off on Thursday morning.

Most regions will see between 30-40 mm of rain, with some areas possibly receiving 60-80 mm. In certain upland locations, particularly in the Amber warning area, much higher rainfall totals of 100-150 mm could occur.

To prepare for potential flooding, it is advisable to assess if your property is at risk and develop a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. To avoid any travel disruptions, check road conditions if driving or public transport schedules, and adjust your plans accordingly.

In case of power cuts, having a preparedness kit with essentials like torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessary items can help you cope better. Stay updated with any changes in weather warnings as they can occur rapidly, by regularly monitoring the weather forecast in your area provided by the Met Office.
