In Effect From:
June 15th, 11:00 am
In Effect Till:
June 15th, 10:00 pm
Current Status:
Warning No Longer In Effect

Slow-moving thunderstorms and heavy showers may lead to travel and outdoor activity disruptions.

This afternoon and into the evening, showers and thunderstorms are forecasted to become more widespread. While not every area will experience a thunderstorm, those that do may encounter slow-moving storms with lightning, hail, and heavy rainfall. The most intense storms could result in up to 20 mm of rain in under an hour, with isolated areas receiving 30-40 mm in 2-3 hours.

To prepare, consider the risk of flash flooding in your area and develop a flood plan with an emergency kit. Stay informed about road conditions, bus and train schedules, and make adjustments to your travel plans as needed to avoid delays. Planning ahead for power outages can help you cope better; gather torches, batteries, a mobile phone charger, and other essentials.

If caught outside during a thunderstorm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed space like a car and avoid trees or structures that could be struck by lightning. Move to lower ground if you are on an elevated area. Be aware that weather warnings may change rapidly, so stay updated on the forecast in your area when a warning is issued by the Met Office.
