5th January 2023
Warning No Longer In Effect

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind in Grampian, the Highlands & Eilean Siar, Orkney & Shetland, and Strathclyde regions, including the local authorities of Aberdeenshire, Moray, Na h-Eileanan Siar, Highland, Orkney Islands, and Argyll and Bute. The warning is in effect from 21:00 (UTC) on Thursday, January 5 to 10:00 (UTC) on Friday, January 6.

High winds are expected to cause travel disruption and make driving conditions difficult, especially on exposed bridges, causeways, and higher routes. Delays to road, rail, air, and ferry transport are likely, and there may be short-term loss of power and other services. Coastal routes, sea fronts, and coastal communities may be affected by spray and large waves.

The Met Office advises residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions and heed any warnings from local authorities. This warning was issued at 15:58 (UTC) on Thursday, January 5.
