In areas where storms are frequent, there may be a build-up of 20 to 30 mm of rain over 2 to 3 hours. Additional hazards in some places include frequent lightning, hail, and gusty winds.<\/p>\n<p>To prepare for potential flash flooding, assess if your location is at risk and create a flood plan along with an emergency flood kit. Secure moveable objects and temporary structures, such as bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, gazebos, sheds, and fences, before gusty winds arrive.<\/p>\n<p>Check road conditions and transport timetables to avoid delays. Prepare for possible power cuts by gathering torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other essentials.<\/p>\n<p>If caught outside during a storm, seek shelter in a safe enclosed area, like a car, and avoid trees or structures that may be hit by lightning.
