Condé Nasr did an article on our B&B saying: “Once you’re sitting on the wisteria-clad terrace of this attractive villa, with a glass of chilled wine, the Latin inscription over the front door - which translates roughly as ‘What you seek is here’ - suddenly seems less trite. The Mas de la Rabassière, perched in the countryside of central Provence, high above St Chamas with far reaching views over the Etang de Berre, should be treated a much more than a quick stopover. As well as three acres of garden - with swimming pool, tennis court, croquet and boules - guests are presented with some top class Provençale and Indian cooking by host and culinary enthusuast Michael Frost and his equally accomplished Singaporean assistant, Thevi. The house itself, which includes a sitting room with grand piano, an extensive library and five en suite guest rooms, is comfortably and tastefully decorated; but what really makes this place is Michael’s overwhelming hospitality and enthusiasm, which goes well beyond the call of duty. (He housed Bosnian refugees here before he set up as a chambre d’hôtes and is well practiced at making strangers feel at home.) Included in the very reasonable price is plenty of local knowledge, and I was even offered the loan of his very smart soft-top Saab on one ocasion. This is the sort of man who makes pain au chocolat from scratch and, as you lounge by the swimming pool, or put your feet up in the sitting room, he may well prevail on you to sample what he’s cooking in the kitchen".
