Welcome to Saint Patrick's Cathedral which has been at the heart of Dublin and Ireland's history and culture for over 800 years. Built in honour of Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral stands adjacent to the famous well where tradition has it Saint Patrick baptised converts on his visit to Dublin. It remains the largest Cathedral in the country and is the final resting place for one of Ireland's most famous authors, Jonathan Swift, who was Dean of Saint Patrick’s from 1713 to 1745. Today the Cathedral, as well as being a place of worship, is open to all people as an architectural and historical site and is one of Dublin's most popular visitor attractions.
A tour of the Cathedral is full of history and heritage and is a must do for anyone visiting Dublin. A new exhibition within the Cathedral opened in 2014 to commemorate the centenary of World War 1 and this will run for the next 4 years.
Admission price to Saint Patrick's Cathedral is €6 per adult and €15 per family and this money is used solely for the upkeep and maintenance of one of Ireland's most historic buildings.
