Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Garden is a beautiful woodland estate set in the heart of the picturesque Connemara countryside. Built in 1868 by the wealthy business man, surgeon and politician , Mitchell Henry, Kylemore Abbey has a history of both tragedy and romance. Following the Henry's Kylemore was owned by the charismatic 9th Duke of Manchester before becoming home to the Benedictine order of Nuns in 1920. It was home to an International Girl's boarding school from 1922 until 2010 and now is the number one visitor attraction in Ireland West.
Visit the restored rooms of the Abbey, the Beautiful Gothic Church and our wonderful Victorian Walled Garden before enjoying a home cooked lunch in Mitchell's Café or afternoon tea in our Garden Tea House.
