The large comfy colonial home, and former vicarage set in peaceful surroundings, will provide guests a unique accommodation experience. There are private and dorm rooms to meet all budgets, from backpackers to the couples/families who want to make their travel dollar go further. Weary guests can enjoy cuddling up by the large wood-burning fire, with their free cuppa, after enjoying a lovely hot shower in our modern bathroom facilities. Cooking can be done in the well equipped kitchen or on the Gas BBQ in our outdoor area where tables and seating are provided.
We provide warm comfy made up beds and no bunks in our dorms! The largest dorm sleeps 5 and we even have a 3 bed female dorm, with electric blankets, for the ladies travelling alone. Our private double/twin rooms which have LCD TV/DVD’s also have electric blankets on the beds. The Studio Apartment has a queen-size bed and a set of strong single steel bunks for other adults or children, all are made up with warm duvets and electric blankets. It has an air conditioner/heat pump, 32” LCD TV and DVD Player, a small kitchenette, separate bathroom and a washing machine.
Enjoy Wi-Fi throughout the property or use our internet terminal, at the end of the hallway for a better viewing experience, both of which a free to use. There is no charge for using Big Tree’s washing machine but if you need to use our powder a gold coin donation is appreciated. We are a 4 minute walk to shops, pubs, cafe's and most businesses in Methven/Mt Hutt Village. We can only accommodate a maximum number of 18 in the main lodge and 4 in our self contained Little Tree Studio Apartment so booking is essential to avoid disappointment. We look forward to giving you local advice whether you are here to enjoy Mt Hutt ski-field, Hot Air Ballooning, Salmon/Trout fishing and other water activities on the Rangitata, or any of the many other outdoor activities our area offers.
