Birdwoods Gallery is a must-do when visiting Hawke's Bay, just three kilometres from the picturesque Havelock North Village in rural New Zealand. It features an unusual gallery which shows a collection of arts and crafts from Africa and New Zealand including metal sculpture, stone sculpture, decorative arts, paintings, textiles, jewellery, ceramics and collectables. It also has a well known little café famous for morning and afternoon teas and light lunches. Everything at Birdwoods has a story!
Next door there is a delightful little old fashioned sweet shop with ice-creams, old fashioned confectionary, fudge and liquorice.
The gardens are extensive featuring a sculpture area and a large water feature, and is also suitable for events.
Birdwoods is open seven days a week.
