Dunedin is known as the wildlife capital of New Zealand, a reputation justified by it's location on the beautiful Otago Peninsula, an area rich in both bird-life and marine mammals. Rare Yellow-Eyed Penguins and Royal Albatross both nest and raise chicks here during the summer months. Several hundred years ago humans settled amongst the flourishing animal kingdom, to find food and a place to live in the sheltered valley of what we now call Otago Harbour. Early settlers from Europe also came and left the mark of their culture in the diverse and beautiful architecture that characterises the city of Dunedin.
Highbrae Guesthouse is a stately home (B & B), in the heart of Dunedin with commanding views of the city and harbour, central to most of the attractions and shops, restaurants and sporting venues. Stephen and Fienie offer warm hospitality and loads of advice about the area, as well as comfortable and economical accommodation.
