ASURE Chelsea Gateway Motor Lodge is a comfortable, friendly ASURE 4 star rated motel located in the fabulous northern West Coast of the South Island.

If you are travelling between the Glaciers (Fox and Franz Josef) and the Nelson/Marlborough regions, Westport is ideally located for an overnight stop, being approximately half way between those destinations. If time allows, we highly recommend allowing a day of your itinerary to explore this amazing area. We are bounded by two National Parks - Kahurangi to the north and Paparoa to the south. There are some stunning walks - something for all abilities. The limestone geology of the area has created fascinating land formations such as Punakaiki (the 'Pancake Rocks') and the Oparara Arches. The Cape Foulwind Fur Seal breeding colony is easily accessible and is home to its population all year round.

If your interests lean more towards adventure activities, these are also well catered for and include cave rafting, jet boating, horse trekking, and mountain bike riding. Those interested in history will find much of interest at the Coaltown Museum and can relive the early coal mining days at the Denniston historical precinct, or by taking a ride in to one of the original mines on "The Denniston Experience'. Check out Mitchells Gully Historic Gold Mine also.

Our accommodation caters for all needs with units ranging from studios, to 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments accommodating up to 6 people.
