The Club is the oldest in the Cornwall, formed in 1889 and celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2014. The most famous player from the Club is Jim Barnes who won the US Open, US PGA and the Open. Philip Rowe, currently coaching in America played in the 1999 Walker Cup and more recently, in 2013 Harry Hall captained England under 16's and maintains his representation for England having this year won the Welsh Youths Championship.
