In the heart of the village is The Black Swan, surrounded by a mixture of thatched and clay tiled buildings, some dating from the 16th century. The Black Swan itself dates from at least 1662 and still retains much of its original charm.
Eaters, drinkers, families and dogs are all welcome. In the bar area there are snugs and a warm open fire for the winter, and doors to the riverside garden for the summer. The restaurant is warm, cosy and welcoming, with doors to both the riverside garden and courtyard.
The food we serve is fresh and delicious, but definitely not fancy. We will always use seasonal ingredients, and where possible local ones too. On our menu you’re likely to see trout from the stream running along the bottom of the garden, herbs from the courtyard and come spring, eggs from the The Black Swan’s chickens. Our menu changes regularly, but to get a flavour have a look at our sample menus.
