THE GEORGE is an inn with history. A victim of the devastating floods of 1953, home to the inaugural meeting of the Norfolk Naturalist Trust and a focal point for bird watchers for many years thanks to its ‘bird bible’, it sits imposingly over the salt marshes looking out toward Blakeney Harbour.

Here, tranquility is on the doorstep, thanks to the huge skies, acres of colourful salt-marsh and mile-upon-mile of un-spoilt beaches that are also a haven for wildlife.

Here at Cley-next-the-Sea, with it’s narrow roads, no streetlights and a traditional red phone-box, you will find a beautiful, idyllic, north Norfolk brick and flint village that is bursting with character and filled with local culture. No wonder so many people are enchanted by this stretch of coastline.

Dogs are welcome in the bar and front restaurant, we have a great kiddies menu and on the cold Autumn/ winter days we have a roaring open fire going to warm up the cockles of your heart.
