We may be biased but we think Greetham Valley is the best golf complex in the East Midlands! Set amidst 276 acres of picturesque countryside just a few minutes’ drive from Rutland Water, since 1991 Greetham Valley has been carefully developed from traditional undulating farmland to create three superb, diverse golf courses, each with their own unique challenges for every level of player. The Lakes, Valley and Academy courses each offer their own challenges to accomplished players and novices alike.
The Lakes course is the longest of the two 18 hole championship golf courses at 6769 yards. The long wide fairways can favour the big hitter – but watch out for the water and bunkers. The par 3s on the Lakes course are very challenging, with lovely but deceptively tricky water features on each one.
The Valley course at 5595 yards has some spectacular holes across the valley, notably the 3rd, with its’ elevated tee, the 16th with a 3 tiered green and the final flourish across a lake on the 18th. Perhaps the prettiest hole - and the most testing – is the 17th, a par 4 nestling on the floor of the valley, bordered on the left by a wooded hillside and on the right by the brook. But watch out for that lake next to the green! Although the shorter of the two main courses, the Valley is still very challenging and all parts of your game must be up to scratch. It has the longest par 5 on the entire complex and with water, sand and glorious views over this beautiful part of Rutland, this course offers a truly great eighteen holes of golf.
The Academy course boasts 9 well designed par 3 holes and is ideal both for novices and for the experienced player trying to fine-tune his short game. Cunningly located bunkers lay in wait for the unwary and club selection for a tee shot is very much dependent upon ability.
