Battens Farm is an organic farm in the tranquil village of Allington, Wiltshire. There are numerous scenic footpaths spread across the farmland and surrounding villages. 3 well reputed pubs are within 1.5 - 2 miles of the farm, a very popular farm shop/café and a village shop. We are conveniently located in the south Cotswolds, with the beautiful conservation village of Castle Combe a mere 3 miles away, a visit there will show you just why this village has been voted prettiest in England on several occasions. The Manor House in Castle Combe is a must for afternoon tea or a lavish meal and a walk in the grounds is highly recommended. The golf course has been voted number 1 in Wiltshire and the motor racing circuit is ever popular. The quintessentially English village of Lacock is truly stunning, the timeless high street and 13th century Abbey make it a must for visiting. The pretty village of Badminton, famed for the annual horse trials, is nearby, as is Westonbirt with the stunning arboretum. Bath and Bristol, 2 historic and vibrant cities are both a 1/2 hour drive away and the fascinating site of Stonehenge is less than an hours drive away. Accommodation: Stable Cottage, on Battens Farm, is a converted Cotswold stone stable block. The building has much charm, with exposed beams, a cosy wood burning fire and has been decorated in a contemporary country style. All on 1 floor, there is 1 double bedroom, 1 single bedroom, a bath with shower attachment and a generous kitchen/living area with an attractive stone floor throughout. Heating is provided by an effective yet environmentally friendly Biomass system and a wood burning fire. Stable Cottage has a private lawn and patio area with furniture and a barbeque. A tennis court is available on site and stabling can be provided. Stable Cottage is available as a bed and breakfast property with no minimum stay, or on a weekly tariff as a self catering holiday cottage.
