Auchendryne Cottage is a delightful two-bedroomed cottage in the peaceful, historic village of Braemar, which offers extremely comfortable, cosy, well-appointed accommodation for up to four people.
On the ground floor there is a fully-fitted dining kitchen, living room with multi-fuel stove, shower room with electric shower and a sunny porch which looks over the enclosed, private garden towards the village and the hills beyond. There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, upstairs, and a bathroom with electric shower over the bath.
The kitchen is well-equipped with kettle, toaster, coffee maker and cafetiere, electric oven, grill and hob with extractor, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, microwave and cd radio. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a selection of essential cooking ingredients are provided along with dishtowels, dishcloths, dishwasher tablets etc. A landline telephone is available and free wifi. The living room is furnished with a comfy three piece suite, sideboard with a selection of books, games, puzzles and dvds, freeview television with dvd player and ipod dock. Coal and kindling are provided for the multi-fuel stove. Bedlinen is included for all beds along with bath mats and a bath and hand towel for each guest. A hairdryer, ironing board and iron are available.
The village of Braemar offers guests endless outdoor pursuit opportunities. Glenshee Centre is around 9 miles from Braemar on the A93 and offers 40km of pisted slopes over 3 valleys. With 22 lifts and 36 runs it is the UK's largest ski lift system. Tuition and ski hire are available. The chairlift is open in the summer giving access to the Cairnwell ridge for walking, mountain biking or for those who simply wish to enjoy the spectacular views. Braemar boasts the highest 18-hole golf course in the UK and visiting players are always welcome. The local area offers walkers and climbers an impressive selection of 24 Munros and for the less energetic, numerous estate paths and tracks can be explored nearby. For those who enjoy wildlife watching, red squirrels, woodpeckers, pheasants, and bullfinches can often be seen in the garden along with a wonderful variety of small birds. The local woods and hills are home to red grouse, red and roe deer, mountain hares, ring ouzels, ptarmigan, buzzards and eagles and the nearby rivers Dee and Clunie are home to a selection of ducks and waders. Shooting, stalking and fishing are also available locally.
