Judith opened her Real Food Cafe and Restaurant at the back of her famous Kirkwall shop in April 2011, to complement her shop which she has run since 1981. Everything is cooked on the premises in the open kitchen by her team of dedicated homecooks lead by Kirsty Aim. You can actually watch your food being made in front of you as it is just a very small kitchen. As much fresh local Orkney produce is used in our changing menu and these daysour customers want to know what is on their plates and where it is sourced from. We also have Vegetarian and Gluten Free options.
There is a specials board that changes daily and a set menu is also served all day. From June - September the large shop and Cafe/ Restaurant is open till 10pm in the evening ( 8pm on Sunday night ) and evening table bookings can be placed. The restaurant is licenced and sell local Ales and Malt Whiskies and children are very welcome. The local produce that is used to cook with, is also available to buy in the front shop.
Customers can even have a try sitting on one of our original Orkney chairs and children can ahave afree go on Sigurd our rocking horse who has lives in the shop !
Visit us to relax, eat the wonderful local produce available in Orkney and enjoy a glass of good wine with an exclusive wine list devised by Duncan McLean or have a local beer made by The Orkney Brewery or Rob Hills Swannay Brewery or even a nip of local malt whisky from Highland Park or Scapa Distillery. You can even shop between courses in our Aladdins Cave .
