Tynycornel is one of a handful of hotels which could easily qualify for a "Best location in Britain" award. The hotel has an outstanding setting besides the waters of Llyn Mwyngil (Tal-y-llyn lake). The 222-acre lake, owned by the hotel, is situated deep in the fold of dramatic, steep sided mountains, one being Cadir Idris Wales' second highest mountain. The location of the hotel is ideal for touring the many areas of interest, or activities offered by the hotel or Snowdonia National Park.
Tynycornel is a solid, traditional building with an attractive bar/lounge area decorated with a unique collection of Terrence Lambert paintings, a renowned artist of birdlife. For the real thing, however, you can sit in the window seats watching the local wild life in and on the lake. The accommodation is spread across three buildings, the main building with first floor accommodation, the "boathouses" accessed directly from the inner garden area and the "superior" rooms in the modern annex, including a disabled room, are also accessed from the inner courtyard and garden. These rooms (excluding the disabled room) all enjoy there own private patio area with uninterrupted views of the lake.
The hotel also enjoys a full wedding license and can cater for up to 100 guests for wedding breakfast, private parties or conferences.
