Traveling across Kachmek bay to the coast of Katmai National Park you will view active volcanoes, Crater top lakes, Glaciers and the most beautiful scenery Alaska has to offer on your 1.5 hour flight in to our bear photography camp. Landing either on the beach or in a lake you will be met by our staff who will help you with your bags up to camp. After a short orientation you will settle in and get your gear stored in your expedition style shelter. The camp comes equipped with toilet facilities a charging station and a dinning area which doubles as our lounge. Our camp is set up on the fringes of the bears feeding source in order to not impede there feeding habits and behaviors. You will spend you time living side by side with North Americas largest living land predator the coastal brown bear. Your days will be filled with hikes to photograph wild brown bears in the natural environment. Experience the thrill of the coastal brown bear only feet from your lens as you photograph these magnificent giants going through there daily ritual behaviors. June sports coastal brown bears coming out of hibernation and into mating season photograph dominant brown bears brawling for mates as these warriors try to mate with the most eligible females. Expect to photograph bears in the meadows grazing and bears on the tidal flats digging clams this is also a great time to view sows with cubs as they teach the little ones the art of seeking out clams and digging them for one of there main food resources. Wolves and wold pups will also be seen at this time as wolves are very active in this area at this time of the season. Late July Early August is the start of the bears second and primary food source Salmon. Come at this time and expect to photograph bears feeding and fishing for salmon. Photograph these expert fishermen as they patrol the rivers for lush red sockeye salmon. The action shots are unbelievable. Sows with cubs are active also at this time and wolves are also seen.
