At the beginning of your Sitka shore trip we’ll drive over O’Connell Bridge where you’ll see Sitka laid-out below you, to the final stop at Fortress of the Bear, our guides will wow you with Sitka’s incredible beauty and history and wildlife.

Japonski Island: passing over historic O’Connell Bridge, you’ll leave Sitka, and enter Japonski Island, where you’ll learn about Sitka’s incredible contribution in WWII and look for wildlife along the way.
Totem Park: Stroll through Sitka National Historical Park, the oldest National Park in Alaska (Totem Park) and soak in the richness of our old-growth temperate rainforest as you learn about the Totems and the stories they hold within their carved images.
Silver Bay: Continue your tour as we drive south to Silver Bay. Here, incredible beauty unfolds around each and every bend in the road.
Fortress of The Bear: The final leg of your tour brings you the “Fortress of the Bear”, our most popular stop. Here you will have the opportunity to get within twenty-five feet of our distinctive Brown Bear in a naturalized setting. The three-quarter acre habitat, set against the National Forest, is the largest bear habitat in North America and is complete with covered viewing areas. Meet their experienced rescuers as they share their love and knowledge of this often feared, but yet revered creature of the forest. Learn the challenges they experience as they seek to rescue these incredible giants.
Other sights along the way include Alaska Pioneer Home, Russian Block House, St. Michael’s Cathedral, Sheldon Jackson Museum, Sitka Sound Science Center, Russian Bishop’s House, Eagle Bay, and Silver Bay.
