The park is home to the famous ghost orchid and more orchid and bromeliad species are found here than anywhere else in the United States. The park's wildlife is as diverse as its flora. Rare species such as the American crocodile and West Indian manatee live in waterways to the south, while Florida Black bears, Everglades mink and the endangered Florida panther inhabit other regions of the 85,000 acre park.
