The Tennessee Williams Key West Exhibit offers one of the finest self-guided, historical and literary tours available in Key West. The esteemed playwright is honored and remembered by this Exhibit that showcases his literary accomplishments and life in key west through an extensive collection of photographs, first edition plays and books, rare newspaper and magazine articles, videos, a typewriter used by the author while writing in Key West and other artifacts. They are all on display in a newly remodeled, expanded 900 square foot space. Guests will be reminded that Tennessee williams was one of the greatest 20th century American playwrights. He wrote many award winning plays that included The Glass Menagerie, A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin roof. His many awards included two pulitzer prizes, a Tony award, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He visited and lived in Key West from 1941 until his death in 1882. He bought a home in 1949 where he wrote many of his highly acclaimed plays in his studio. Admission is free; donations are welcomed. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and from noon to 5 pm on Sundays.
