HISTORY: Aster House has been renting since 1891, and under the present owners since 1982.
We've had guests return for as long as 18 years and stay as long as 9 years, so being that well-established and with that kind of loyalty you may be assured of a pleasant visit, in fact,
most of our tenants are referrals or repeats!!
NEIGHBORHOOD: Aster House is on a quiet residential street in Lincoln Park, Chicago's most desirable downtown neighborhood. Here's why:
~Within 1/2 to 2 blocks are many restaurants, cafes, pizzerias, sports bars, bakeries, fine and resale shops, theatres, art galleries, museums, music venues, the post office, the library, dry cleaners, health clubs, a park out back (free tennis courts, playground, softball diamond), Starbucks, day spas, hair & nail salons, barbers, DePaul University, a late-night pharmacy --- and for any jet-lag or late nights, there are a 5-am pizzeria, 3am bakery and 24-hour diner.
~ Within 2 - 10 blocks are 2 11-theatre movie houses, Second City, Lincoln Park, more parks, several groceries, farmers' markets May 1 - Oct 31, the year-round free city zoo and botanical gardens, the lake/Fullerton beach with its 18-mile biking/running path and necessities such as Best Buy,Target, Whole Foods, Barnes & Noble, TJMaxx, Anthropologie, etc. Wrigley Field is 10 blocks straight up the street.
TRANSPORTATION: We're 1/2 to 1 block from the Fullerton subway/el station (Red, Brown and Purple lines), taxicabs, city Divvy bicycles and 4 buses to reach all the rest of the city attractions. The Mag Mile, Navy Pier or The Loop are about a 4- 6 minute subway/el ride. For further trips or an easy arrival, we are 1 mile from Lakeshore Drive or Routes 90 and 94.
THE HOUSE: Built in 1891, this totally updated Victorian-style house has a back yard, a covered porch with rockers, and a spacious sun deck with umbrella table, chaises, chairs and charcoal grill.
THE APARTMENT: *Elizabeth's Place* has 10' ceilings over its living room with cable television and DVD player, a dining room that seats 12, study with amply filled bookshelves and music system, deluxe eat-in kitchen (SubZero refrigerator, glass cook top and oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven, blender, Corian counters and sink), bathroom with clawfoot tub and shower, free personal full-size front-load washer and dryer, individual air conditioners, sound system and landline phone. For sleeping, there is a bedroom with a queen bed, a bedroom with a full bed and there's a deluxe full futon in the study.
AMENITIES: The following all are included :
Secure high-speed Wifi, cable television, land line phone for local calls, guest-controlled air conditioning, free upscale personal laundry, and all kitchenware, dishes, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, bed linens, towels, etc. -- just bring your toothbrushes!
PARKING: Although a vehicle is not needed, street parking is easy and we'll explain local regulation
