UK Heatwave - Temperatures Could Reach 35c Today (July 1st 2015)

After a very warm Tuesday, with temperatures of 30c recorded in parts of the UK, southerly winds will bring a tropical continental air-mass to much of the UK, causing temperatures to rise even further of Wednesday 1st July. Temperatures are expected to reach 30c widely in the South East, and possibly up to 35c in London. It will be a little fresher in the South West, with temperatures of around 20c to 24c, and temperatures above 25c widely for the rest of the UK.

Vulnerable groups have been urged to stay as cool as possible, and stay indoors between 11am and 3pm. High temperatures do have an impact on health, particularly on older people and young children and people with chronic diseases.

It will be a cloudier day, with the possibility of thunderstorms, particularly in the north of England and Scotland. The Met office have issued a Yellow weather warning of rain for Northern England and Southern Scotland. There is a possibility of severe thunder storms and torrential downpours, possibly leading to localised flooding.
