There are Yellow and Amber weather warnings in place for parts of the UK on Monday 30th December.
Amber weather warning of rain for SW Scotland, Lothian Borders, Strathclyde.
On Monday morning heavy rain will move eastward across Scotland. Rainfall accumulations of 20 to 30 mm are expected widely with 50 mm over high ground. There is now increased confidence for 50-60 mm of rain widely across southwest Scotland so the public should prepare for the risk of flooding.
Yellow weather warning of rain for Northern Ireland, Southwest Scotland, Wales, South West England, London and South East England.
Rain will move eastwards across the country on Monday morning bringing more heavy rain. Rainfall totals are expected to be widely 15-30 mm, but locally 50 mm over south facing hills. The rain will will be falling on alreay saturated ground so the public should be aware of the potential for further flooding.
Yellow weather warning of wind for for South and West Wales, South West England and South East England.
Severe gale force winds will affect south and west Wales and south west England in the early morning of the 30th December, moving east as the morning progresses, affecting English channel coastal counties. Gusts of 60-70 mph are possible widely, particularly near coasts and over high ground, and a possibility of a short period where gusts could reach 80 mph at exposed locations in the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall and western parts of Wales.
There is potential of disruption to travel in areas affected by these warnings, and although the number of flood warnings around the country has decreased over the last few days, with the ground already saturated and some river levels still high, there is real potential for further local flooding.
